Seasonal fruit or vegetables, cut open (about 1 cup), and/or crushed herbs
¼ cup organic sugar
¼ organic whole vanilla bean, split
¼ cup Tito’s vodka, or any clean-tasting vodka, room temperature
1 bottle crisp white wine, room temperature
This recipe requires advance preparation. In a 2-quart container, mix together the ingredients until the sugar is dissolved. Cover and refrigerate for 3 to 4 weeks. The ratafia can be made faster by using the juice of the fruit or vegetable instead of the cut fruit.) Strain and discard the solids to serve. Serve shaken or on the rocks as an aperitif. Makes 4 cups.
