Oops! An Insider’s Guide
Julie Weinstein spent several years living in NYC before moving back to Houston and started dating – and then married - childhood family friend Matthew Weinstein. As kids, their families were friends; they “dated” briefly in fifth grade when she was attending The Shlenker School and he was at Beth Yeshurun Day School, and remained good friends throughout middle and high school together at I. Weiner and Bellaire High School.
After their freshman year of high school, Julie’s family moved out of Houston but in 2011, when she was in town visiting friends, they spotted each other in line at Hughes Hangar. They spent the rest of the night talking and, as Julie said, “the rest is history.” She moved back to Houston not long after; they married last summer and now live in River Oaks. (Read about their proposal here.)
A blogger on fashion, interior design and other lifestyle topics, she recently published a book called Oops!, an “insider’s guide” to dating, sex and relationships in your '20s by Julie Lauren.
The book is full of stories, advice and anecdotes from her time spent living in NYC. Julie describes it as Sex in the City meets He’s Just Not That Into You. Last week, approximately 90 friends, family members and fans gathered at Americas in River Oaks to celebrate the release of Oops! with a book signing, light bites and mingling. Two of her best friends – and fellow bloggers – surprised her with a creative cake from Three Brothers Bakery with an image of the book cover on it.
See her website for a list of places where you can find the book.
