Talent on campus
Memorial High School’s production of Kiss Me Kate was a hit. It’s a show-within-a-show, where the leading man performs opposite his hot-tempered ex-wife in Shakespeare’s Taming of the Shrew. The leading roles were played by Noah Kenner, who played the leading man, Fred Graham/Petruchio (pictured, at right), and Rachel Klein, who played the leading lady, Lilli Vanessi/Katherine (at left). Daniel Fonseka and Meredith Rauch sang and danced their way through their supporting roles as the gambling Broadway hoofer Bill Calhoun/Lucentio and his flirty girlfriend, Lois Lane/Bianca. Brian Carles and Clay Wells played Bianca’s suitors, Gremio and Hortensio. And Mitchell Dahmer and Patrick Greer added vaudevillian levity as the gangsters attempting to collect a gambling debt who get drawn into the show. After the last show, the entire cast and crew gathered to eat treats and watch a video, produced by Emma Golden, of the seniors sharing fond memories of their time in MHS theater.
