April 18 Flood Recovery Resources
Our hearts are broken for all of our friends and neighbors who were affected by the April 18 flood, especially knowing how many experienced damage from the Memorial Day flood who were affected once again.
Here is a list of resources and volunteer opportunities that we’ve heard about so far. We will continue to add to it. Please comment below or email us at [email protected] with any additional resources, information or volunteer opportunities.
Report Flood Damage
If you experienced flood damage and haven’t already reported it, download the Houston 311 App to report damage from the flood.
West U residents: If rising water entered your home or business, please call 713-662-5826 or 713-662-5824 before 5 p.m., Wednesday, April 20.

Facebook Community Resources
Houston Flood 2015 Resource/Support Group: After the Memorial Day Flood, Tandy Camberg Harris started the Houston Flood 2015 Resource/Support Group, which has remained a critical community resource. This is run by volunteers and neighbors and is a great resource for anyone affected by the flood who needs help, or who wants to offer help to neighbors. (No solicitation allowed.) Request to join the Facebook group.
Katy / Cyfair / West /NW/BunkerHill/Memorial/Houston Flood 2016: This flood resource and support group for the West and Northwest area of Houston was created by neighbors this week. Neighbors are welcome to join regardless of where you live if you can provide resources, support or advice for flood victims. Request to join here.
Volunteer with the City of Houston
Call the City of Houston Housing Department to volunteer: 832-394-6282 and see the website for more information and to donate.
Volunteer with the Red Cross
Red Cross is in need of volunteers for shelter operations. Contact: [email protected].
Volunteer Houston List
Join the Volunteer Houston volunteer list to be connected to organizations seeking assistance.
Volunteer with The Houston Food Bank
The Houston Food Bank is seeking volunteers to help sort, process and box food and necessities for those affected by the floods. Register to volunteer online here or call Van Tran at 713-547-8604. Individuals and groups are welcome, and children as young as age 6 are welcome for kid-friendly projects.
Meyerland Residents in Need of Supplies
Kolter Elementary is offering supplies to Meyerland residents, such as boxes, tubs, packing tape, Clorox wipes, trash bags, bubble wrap and rubber gloves. Note: You do not need to have kids at Kolter to take supplies.
Provide Supplies
United Orthodox Synagogues (UOS) is accepting donations to help with cleanup. You can drop off the following items at 9001 Greenwillow St, Houston, TX 77096: Fans, bleach, tarp, gloves, rags, paper towels, sponges and bottled water. (No clothes or furniture donations accepted today.)

Volunteer with or Donate to Kids Meals
Kids’ Meals – a nonprofit that serves healthy lunches daily to pre-school aged kids living in poverty – delivered a record-breaking 4,500 lunches and groceries to Houston families on Tuesday. Volunteers are needed to help prepare lunches. Donations are needed (canned goods, dry goods, small water bottles, 100% juice boxes, Ziploc bags or $10).
