Time to shine
The nonprofit Friends of Down Syndrome will host its fourth annual Cinderella Ball on March 24 at the Red Oak Ballroom at Houston CityCentre. J.J. Moore (pictured) attends the Down Syndrome Academy and is a candidate for Prince Charming (and a past winner). The ball is held annually to commemorate World Down Syndrome Day, which is observed, on March 21, to raise awareness of the congenital disorder caused by having an extra 21st chromosome. This year’s fundraising goal is $150,000, with all proceeds going toward Friends of Down Syndrome’s capital campaign to build a permanent home for the organization and its Down Syndrome Academy, a school for teens and adults with Down Syndrome.
