Sending Texas cheer
The Hotty Toddy Mamas, a group of Houston moms whose kids attend the University of Mississippi, gathered for their annual November mixer to share tips and support for their kids in the midst of final exam season. The mamas assembled finals survival care packages to send to their students, who all attend Ole Miss. Hostess Misty Hagood painted mailing boxes with the Texas flag. Moms attending contributed 10 or more $5 items that eventually created quite a pile of goodies on Misty’s dining room table. Then, the moms chose items from the pile such as bottles of Tylenol and Vitamin C, delicious-smelling soaps, warm fuzzy socks, extra highlighters, packets of hot chocolate, Chapstick and more to help ease the discomforts of finals week. At Ole Miss, students say “Hotty Toddy,” as a greeting, so the group is called Hotty Toddy Mamas. Mamas who assembled care packages are (pictured, back row, from left) Lisa Ganucheau, Paige Weinstein, Melisa Jordan, Michelle Ross, Misty Hagood; (seated, from right) Andy Blitzer, Michelle Herring, Wendy Wilkins Burks, Donna Porter, Anya McInnis and Karen Acton.
