Boy Scout Troop 642 welcomed four new Eagle Scouts: Adam Easley, Cameron Schmidt, Owen Duggan, and John Paul Miranda (pictured, from left), members of the Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church-based troop led by Scoutmaster Tom Cain. Adam, a senior at Memorial High School (MHS), completed his Eagle Scout service project for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit organization that assembles and delivers beds to children who need them. He raised more than $8,000 and led volunteers in assembling and delivering 65 beds. Cameron’s project benefited the Mission of Yahweh, an organization focused on homelessness. The MHS senior  designed, built, painted, and installed two storage cabinets, along with eight chair-dollies to hold 64 chairs and other items in the Mission’s cafeteria. Owen, a sophomore at Stratford High School, built a sand-volleyball court for Family Point Resources. He raised more than $9,800 and managed volunteers during two weekends. John Paul, a senior at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, removed and replaced a 200-foot chain link fence with gates enclosing the playground at Ashford United Methodist Church. He worked together with 22 volunteers from four different Scout troops to complete the project.
