Friends and triathletes
Scarlett Bautista, Mabyn Coleman and Domenica Sepe (pictured, from left) show off their medals at the Houston Kids Triathlon. Scarlett’s little sister, Gwyneth (far left), hopes to participate next year. The girls were among the 37 students from St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School who participated in the largest kids’ triathlon in the world. To prepare for the event, St. Vincent de Paul coach Miki Burns held training sessions on campus and at the Weekley Family YMCA on Stella Link. Both Scarlett and Dominica competed in the triathlon last year and plan to continue in the future. Mabyn was new to the event, and her favorite portion was biking, which she learned just this year. The girls loved training and competing, but the best part was definitely the free ice cream at the finish line.
