The cast and crew of psychological thriller Sanitatum plus friends and family members gathered at Midtown Arts & Theater Center on Thurs., Dec. 14 for a screening of the film. Sanitatum, produced by Braes Heights resident Scott Jarnigan, is about four adult survivors of child abuse who find themselves suspects in an investigation into a series of vigilante murders.
Scott is a child-abuse survivor and drew from his own experiences to script the screenplay for Sanitatum (Latin for “healing”). The cast and crew film screening was actually the first time he saw the film on a movie screen.
Elisabeth Rohm, formerly of Law & Order: SVU, and Richard T. Jones of the CBS show Wisdom of the Crowd, play lead roles and love interests in the film. Austin actors Nick Stevenson, Elle LaMont, Paul Wright and Stephanie Drapeau play significant roles, as do Houstonians Dave Maldonado and Drew Starlin. Child actors from Houston, Emma Post, Camden Baker and Alexis Arnold, “were absolutely fantastic,” said Scott in a September 2017 Buzz article.
The film will be submitted to SXSW and other film festivals and will be released in 2018.
