It didn’t matter that Patricia Huntington-Lecky wasn’t there for her 72nd birthday. The party went on to celebrate her. Joanne Naponic hosted the gathering of a dozen gal pals at Sorrento. Pat had been at the Heart and Vascular Institute recovering from emergency surgery on the night that Hurricane Harvey battered the city. She passed away during the lightning and thunder on August 26, and, with the days of rain, it was difficult for some of her Houstonian fitness center friends to gather around and grieve. Her mother, Lucille “Ginger” Pope Woodyard, told a story about how Dr. Denton Cooley saved Pat’s life at the age of 10 when she had two holes in her heart. In the intimate group were Dr. Rosana Scearce, Betty Laney, Dr. Annette Gemp, Pattie Vackar, Jane DiPaolo, Beverly Vosko, Danielle Sankey, Phyllis Rauls and Marina Presley. John Lecky joined in later.
