Ava Yu

Ava Yu was born in New Haven, Connecticut, but grew up in West University Place. As a student at West U Elementary, she fell in love with reading and writing of all genres. In 2018, she published her first novel, which she had started writing in fourth grade. She attended Emery/Weiner for middle school and is currently a rising junior at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire, where she is a staff writer for the student-run weekly newspaper The Exonian. Her Exonian experience has piqued her strong interest in journalism. As an active writer, Ava participates in contests such as the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. When she's not writing, she enjoys drawing, playing the piano, tennis, and community service such as volunteering as a tutor for K-8 kids.
