Beer Cheese Spread
From The Houston Junior League Cookbook (1968), Submitted by Mrs. A. J. Hurt, Jr. (Patty Parrish)
Ingredients:
1 pound sharp cheddar cheese
1 pound mild cheddar cheese
1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste
1 teaspoon garlic salt
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 ½ cups beer (approximately)
Recipe directions:
Grate cheese and mix well with other ingredients into a smooth, spreadable paste. Add more beer if necessary to give proper consistency. Serve with crackers or rye bread rounds. Mixture may be spread between 2 slices of bread and grilled for hot sandwiches. Makes about 3 pints.
