A kick start

A couple of years ago, Sarah Graham and her friends wanted to join an adult kickball team to meet new people. Although her friends bailed, Sarah got assigned to Matt Garcia’s team. She scored when Matt asked her out, but she made him wait until the kickball season was over. While the romance had high points, the highest came when Matt took her to Washington, D.C., and in the Bishop’s Garden in the Washington National Cathedral to propose. They were united in marriage, with Sarah in her mother’s wedding gown, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, with a reception at the historic Julia Ideson Library. Sarah wore her great-great-grandmother’s necklace and a silver sixpence in her shoe, given to her by former Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court, the Hon. Thomas R. Phillips, when she was born. Pam and Mike Graham and Al and Jennifer Garcia are the couple’s parents.
