Mustang running back Ahonore Varner.
A big hello to everyone reading this! I am so excited that I finally get to write my first official blog post. Senior year has kept me pretty busy, but nothing can keep me away from our varsity football games every Friday night. This past Friday, the Houston Christian High School Mustangs played against the East Bernard Brahmas in a very anticipated match up.
The game was scheduled to start at 7 p.m. but due to weather delay the game did not actually start until 7:30 p.m. The theme of the football game for the Mustangs was a blackout theme so all the students and Mustang supporters came to the game dressed out in all black.
Dressing to a theme at a football game is a new tradition senior student council members wanted to try out this year and it worked! The majority of the students came decked out, head to toe, in all black. It was so cool to see the student body really come together to support our Mustangs!
I am really hoping my fellow students continue this fun tradition and I cannot wait until the next game to find out the next theme. When the game finally started the energy in the stadium was amazing. The band was constantly playing, the cheerleaders were getting the crowd pumped, and the student section was buzzing with excitement. In the second quarter, sophomore Matt Strickland, made the first touchdown of the game for the mustangs and the fans went crazy.
Shortly after the touchdown, our drill team, the silver spurs, gave a fun field pom routine at halftime. I love to watch the Spurs every week because they always have a new and sassy routine.
The game ended in a loss for the Mustangs but they really put up a good fight and the spirit in the stadium was incredible and I hope next game is even better.
