Dean Rathgeb, Colton Maloy, George McGuire, Kyle Goodson

Wilchester Wahoos Dean Rathgeb, an eighth grader at Memorial Middle School, Colton Maloy, a freshman at St. Thomas High School, George McGuire, a freshman at St. Thomas, and Kyle Goodson, a freshman at Stratford High School, celebrated after their first-place finish at the Meet of Champions this summer. The boys set a record for the 13-14-year-old 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:48:38. McGuire also set a new meet record for the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 31.75. The boys were coached by Kyle Rathgeb and Ford Story, former teammates and 4A state champions at Stratford High School. “It’s not all too often you have 13-14s who come up to the blocks with not only the confidence that they can win, but that they can also set a record,” said Kyle. “It’s something that makes you really proud as a coach (and as an older brother) to see. Ford and I couldn’t have been more proud of the boys.”
