This year Briarwood’s flag football team went undefeated in the regular season and placed third in the district tournament. This was huge for Briarwood because it was the first time in many years that Briarwood’s football team had a truly successful season.
It all started during the first game of the year. Briarwood played Shady Oaks, a team who, in the past, badly beat us. We all went into the game thinking defeat. But, we came out of the game victors. From there, we knew we had a chance.
Before we knew it, we were halfway through the season and still were undefeated. After our fourth game, we knew our season was going to be something special. But the worst had yet to come. Because of rainy weather, one of our games was rescheduled so that the last two games would be the hardest of the season.
Both games went into overtime but in the end, Briarwood remained undefeated. We were number one overall in our district a position that gave us a bye week in the first round of the championship. We went on to win two games and lose one, landing us third place in district. In the end, our hard work, dedication, and perseverance led us to our success.
