Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart recently honored its prominent French heritage with the all-school celebration of National French Week.
The French-infused week began with the recitation of the morning prayer, Our Father (Notre Pere) in French, followed by a French-themed lunch, courtesy of SAGE Dining, which was made up of staples from the rich French diet such as quiche, brie cheese and croissants.
The Parisian-influenced week continued with the singing of Coeur de Jésus (Heart of Jesus) during the upper school morning assembly on Wednesday.
Upper school French teacher, Mme. Hythecker, announced a semi-casual French-themed dress day for Thursday, Nov. 13. Students sported the colors of the French flag as well as festive French accessories such as berets, scarfs and wraps.
The week came to a close with one of the most beloved traditions of Duchesne’s celebration of National French Week - the Crêperie. The unmistakable scents and sounds of France wafted from the cafeteria as the French Club assembled hundreds of fresh, warm Nutella-filled crêpes for the enjoyment of the upper school student body and faculty to the sound of classical French tunes.
One of the many unique aspects of Duchesne is that it honors its French origins, as is made especially evident through the week long celebration of this beautiful nationality, which is woven into the everyday life of the Duchesne student.
