Bagwell, age 9

The name’s Bagwell. When my family named me in ’05, they thought it looked like I had a goatee, just like the Astros’ first baseman, Jeff Bagwell. That year, the Astros won the National League pennant, and honestly, having the same name as one of the city’s best athletes is a lot of pressure. Those are big shoes to fill – luckily, I’ve got double the number of feet! I used to love running around the backyard, chasing anything that moved, and spinning endlessly in circles. I’ve calmed down since then, and while I still love a good squirrel chase, I spend most of my time guarding the house. Sure, I may have been the smallest of my four-legged siblings, but I’ve got more bark than any of those show dogs, and I can hold down the fort just fine – when I’m not taking a snooze, that is.
