Playground perk-up
The West University Elementary School playground, on the corner of University Avenue and Edloe Street, is used during and after school and on weekends every day by kids like (pictured, from left) Zachary Cutsinger, Reid Lium, Marshall Edgecomb, Paige Berger and Max Brenckmann. Residents felt the 12-year-old playground was in need of repair, so the West University Elementary School Foundation (WUESF) kicked off a campaign to raise $250,000 to refurbish the playground. “This project is for both the school and our neighborhood, and we are excited to help preserve this valuable community resource,” said WUESF board president Adrienne Vanderbloemen. Construction will begin summer 2015. For more information and to make a tax-deductible donation or become a sponsor, see wuesfoundation.org.
