Duchesne Academy’s annual Concert for Uganda was irrefutably one of the best to date. Following a buffet-style dinner, upper school students, parents, and faculty assembled in the theater to watch their peers, teachers, and even a few returning alumni perform a range of musical sets, from classic rock and roll to melodic acoustic covers of today’s most popular sounds.
With an admission cost of $10 and numerous generous donations from concert-goers, over $4,200 was raised for our sister school, Sacred Heart Primary School-Kyamusansala in Masaka, Uganda. The cost of one year’s worth of housing and tuition is $700, meaning that this benevolent concert provided six eager, young girls with the education they deserve.
The concert featured the musical styling of students such as Ashley Krus, Amanda Nguyen, and alumni rock group, Heath Row.
Some of the upper school faculty such as United States History teacher, Mr. Michael Horne, and upper school head, Dr. Donald Cramp, debuted their musical talent for the upper school Duchesne community.
The 2015 Concert for Uganda was a huge success in every sense of the phrase. It provided a chance for students and faculty to exhibit their talent and raise funds and awareness for a worthy cause.
