Annie (played by Jackie Aruffo) comes to Daddy Warbucks’ (played by James Salners) house for the first time.
The 2015 all-school production of the timeless musical, Annie, was one of the best theatrical productions Duchesne has ever seen. The cast was teeming with unique talent that worked seamlessly together to produce a fun-filled, hilarious, and capturing show.
The play opened with a scene in the gloomy stretches of the orphanage followed by a rendition of the famous songs, Hard Knock Life and Maybe, the latter sung by alternating Annie characters, Jackie Aruffo and Owens Taylor.
Grace (played by Caroline Valente) chooses an orphan.
The masterful set design, courtesy of lower and upper school students Emilynn VanOver, Sophie Kidd and others, included portrayals of Warbucks’ mansion, the orphanage, and a city street complete with a New York City skyline.
The musical took on an element of professionalism with guest appearances of notable actors such as Fritz Dickmann as Franklin Delano Roosevelt and James Salners as Daddy Warbucks.
Lily (played by senior Audrey Novak) and Rooster (played by Paul Robertson) plan their future on Easy Street.
The powerful vocals of Duchesne’s most gifted musicians were complemented by the New York City Broadway caliber music and sound effects, managed by upper school student, Jaciana Cortez.
This massively successful production was truly a team effort. Talent and backstage assistance from K-12th grade students came together to put on an impeccable show. With the astounding talent and professionalism of the set design and sound effects, the all-school musical of 2015 will be a hard act to follow.
