Cathey Graham NickellWhen Bellaire author Cathey Graham Nickell (pictured) couldn’t find any children’s books about art cars, she had to fill the void. The result is her first picture book, Arthur Zarr’s Amazing Art Car, which will debut April 11 during the 28th annual Houston Art Car Parade. The story is set in an imaginary town, where Arthur Zarr lives a lonely existence. When he gets an idea to add objects to his plain car, people start noticing him. Neighbors join Arthur by adding their own artistic flair to his car, and he becomes a contender in the Art Car Parade. Themes include recycling, outsider art, friendship and community pride. The book was illustrated by Bill Megenhardt. It will be available at Nickell’s booth at the Art Car Parade in the Kids Zone. See thehoustonartcarparade.com.
