More than 350 supporters of Young Life poured into the River Oaks Country Club. They included chairs Chuck and Kim Watson and honorary chairs Doris and Terry Looper. The fundraiser raises money to help schools and young people in need of support from Young Life, a non-denominational Christian ministry run by volunteers. Guest speaker Dr. Eugene Alford shared his story of overcoming fear and how faith enabled him to face life challenges. A live feed from a bus filled with the kids on their way to Young Life camp, funded in part by the evening’s supporters, kept the energy going in the ballroom. Coppelia of KSBJ lead the evening as emcee and announced that more than $800,000 had been raised. Also there in support were Bonnie Weekley, Martha and Jim Hunt, Jaci and Jim Smith, Jr., Young Life Greater Houston regional director James Rockwell and his wife Marisol, Karen and Wade Jones, Alice and Frank McWilliams, Holly and Tom Forney, Lee and Grant Fortney, Linda and Sam Bradshaw, and Paula Walter.
