Junior Sarah Drew tries her hand at the splatter-paint dart station.
The artistic talents of the Duchesne community took center stage at the 2015 Coffee House celebration. From beautiful acoustic melodies to laugh-out-loud comedy skits, upper school students did the arts proud.
The show opened with the acoustic styling of sophomores Riley Battenfield and Laura Lee Johnson, followed by that of juniors Jackie Brant and Tara Mack.
The atmosphere on the stage took a turn for the funny, however, when juniors Felicity Higgins, Alexandra Medina-Simon, Salone Hugon, and Sydney Hugon took the stage with a hilarious improv performance depicting a flustered mother stuck in the brunt of traffic with her three raucous kids.
History teacher and Coffee House aficionado, Mr. Horne, represented the faculty with his masterfully sidesplitting puppeteering.
Students and guests were free to drift about the White House lawn and enjoy an array of activities such as dart splatter-paint, bubbles, and sidewalk-chalk art. Students, faculty, and guests showed their support for the school and its vibrant artists through donations and purchasing homemade cookies, brownies, and, a top seller, freshly brewed coffee.
The easy, lighthearted vibes and community-oriented atmosphere of Coffee House proved a lively showcase of the school’s artistic talents as well as a successful fundraiser.
