Summer '15 Styles
We went out onto the streets of Rice Village on a mission to find the latest summer fashion and ways to keep cool, yet stylish in the midst of the Texas summer heat. We asked a few Buzz residents for their thoughts on the biggest trends of Summer 2015!
According to Maggie Merrill and Maddie Carter, summer fashion is all about demographics. As incoming seniors at HSPVA and Lamar High School, they say girls their age are beginning to buy their own clothes and create unique styles. Maddie even sews her own tank tops.
These two fashionable girls believe the best way to stay cute and cool include high-waisted shorts and crop tops. This look is completed with a light pair of sandals or even Birkenstocks.
According to Rachel Abreu, Abby Cohan and Anna Epstein from Emery/Weiner High School, summer fashion revolves around Birkenstocks and Chacos. No look is complete without these fashionable sandals and a casual top with cotton shorts to stay cool.
This fashionable Buzz reader claims that gingham print is the next big summer trend. The look is perfect for any outing and can be dressed up or down depending on ones surrounding. She is also a huge fan of ripped jeans and says the holes provide for a functional yet fashionable way to stay cool in the Texas heat.
We caught up with a fellow Buzz reader and incoming UT Longhorn, Lindsay Weycer who shared her summer style tips. Lindsay states that big floral prints and fringe are summer essentials. Additionally, a matching set of crop tops and bottoms accented with chunky wedges are perfect for a more formal summer look.
After asking other Buzz residents about their favorite summer trends, Melissa Darlow and Eric Uzick, the Buzz interns decided to weigh in on the topic. Melissa believes to invest in a nice pair of sunglasses that can be worn throughout the entire summer and keep you safe from the sun yet still look stylish. Eric thinks the best way to stay stylish and cool during the summer is to keep it casual. A shirt that breathes and a nice pair of khaki shorts with some sandals are the best way to go.
Editor's Note: Melissa Darlow and Eric Uzick are summer interns at The Buzz Magazines. Melissa recently completed her freshman year at USC and Eric recently completed his freshman year at UT Austin. They're both grads of The Emery/Weiner School.
