War heroes do not always walk on two legs. Rover Oaks Pet Resort just wrapped up its fifth annual Operation: War Dogs fundraiser for the non-profit organization Mission K9 Rescue, the Houston chapter of the United States War Dogs Association. The fundraiser began on Memorial Day and ended on July 4. This year, a total of $34,575 for Mission K9 Rescue was raised through Operation: War Dogs. Mission K9 Rescue was founded by Buzz resident Kristen Maurer, who wanted to help retired military working dogs and contract working dogs. The nonprofit raises money to help the dogs get trained and adopted and helps pay for transportation and other expenses for these canine heroes. See missionk9rescue.org.
