Lower School students competed for one of the coveted homemade goodies at the cake walk.
Duchesne’s annual Fall Festival serves the dual purpose of uniting the school and seamlessly transitioning from the endless fun of the summer season to the good times and memorable moments that come with the fall. This year’s theme was “Peter Pan and the Pixy Dust Fairies,” as was evident in the glittering goodies and Disneyesque activities that transformed the Upper School gym, dining hall and playground.
The tantalizing spread awaiting the lucky winners of the cake walk.
Upper School students volunteered their time at the concession stands, cake walks and bounce houses to ensure that the event went off without a hitch – and that it did. The once plainly unembellished Upper School gym looked to be a scene straight out of Disney World. Just past the gym in the cafeteria, Lower School students and friends competed for one of the coveted homemade goodies at the Fairy Tale themed cake walk.
The main attraction: among the larger of the bounce houses at the festival!
For those whose luck didn’t prevail at the cake walk, freshly baked (or, rather, deep-fried) funnel cakes, cotton candy and a plethora of other typical carnival snacks filled the dome just outside of the gym. In accordance with the theme of the festival, stilt-walkers, fairies and other whimsical characters were positioned throughout the various treat and concession stands.
Meanwhile, on the usually placid pastures of the school’s field, the ear-piercing shrieks of little girls could be heard as a few brave souls took on the complexities of the inflatable obstacle course positioned in the center of the grassy stretch.
All in all, Fall Fest 2015 delivered a fun-filled time of community building and relaxation for DASH students of all ages - not to mention a chance to fly off to Neverland!
