A Houston landmark
Buzz Rumor Has It columnist Sharon Brier (pictured, in the pink scarf) used her contagious spirit and energy 35 years ago to set into motion the creation of the beloved Houston icon, the Children’s Museum of Houston. Today, the Children’s Museum of Houston is celebrating its 35th birthday, and it’s thanks in large part to Sharon’s vision. Museum fans supported its 35th birthday with a celebration at the museum. Everyone boogied away at a dance party, gobbled up cake, sang songs and more. Admission was free to the first 35 children and to parents 35 years old. Sharon made an appearance on Channel 2 to talk about how the Children’s Museum of Houston all began. Pictured are Dr. Mark Urbach making balloons, Brian Atlas sitting with granddaughters Hazel, Faye Harrington and Anna Taylor, Sharon Brier (waving) and Cindy Atlas.
