A hippo club – who knew?

Sue Shefman hosted 30 friends from all over the U.S. who belong to the Hippolotofus (hippo collectors) group at her hippo-filled townhome for dinner. They sang and played a human version of Hungry, Hungry Hippos. The bloat (actual term for a herd of hippos), as they refer to themselves, visited the home of Barbie Adams, who has a collection of 3000-plus hippopotami figures and accessories. Then off to Hutto, the hippo capital of Texas, to join in their Olde Tyme Days parade. The mayor passed the city key to the Hippolotofus friends, right into the hands of Sue, who was wearing her vest quilted with 15 years of hippo T-shirts.
