One of our hardest workers, James Cravens, shows that he always means business.
Alexander-Smith Academy's senior class consists of 17 students. That number may seem small to some, but it is no indication of the diverse and interesting group of students we have in attendance here. A smaller class size allows seniors to share more personal stories and experience greater connections than those enrolled in much larger schools. When it comes to ASA’s students and faculty, we definitely enjoy more quality than quantity.
One quality and forthcoming student is James Cravens, a man of great depth and perspective who freely shares his life lessons: “I feel like who I am is a matter of my experiences,” Cravens says. “Not going to lie, I've had some dark times, but in the end, it was those times that really influenced me. I have learned so much through those struggles and in the end, they have made me stronger as a person.”
Students at ASA have the opportunity to learn from Cravens’ willingness to self-disclose.

Another motivational senior, Katy Boyd, shares, “I’ve been through some really rough times that I never thought I would get through in my life. Getting past those life events, I’ve matured greatly, become very empathetic, and gained a lot of wisdom. I always feel for people that are going through the same type of rough patches and am always willing to help those in need. It’s very cliché, but life gets better. I never used to live by that saying, but knowing what I’ve been through and fighting through it, life really does get better.”
The small student body at ASA offers every student the opportunity to develop deep and meaningful friendships. The intimate environment at ASA is so welcoming and nurturing that every type of person can expect to feel connected - even those who experienced major changes in their lives.
