Chance Coleman (pictured), 11, competes with the Presbyterian School cross country team. The sixth grader has always loved running, and had a successful first season on the team. “I’ve been running all my life,” he says. His favorite event is the 1.5-mile race. In addition, he also competes in the 1-mile, 1.2-mile and 2-mile events. To prepare for competition, he ran with the team four days each week, and also did track drills and interval training. Chance is inspired by his aunt, who is a serious runner and has completed several marathons and triathlons. When he is not running, Chance enjoys basketball, golf and sailing.
