In January, a group of Photography and AP Art History students from Bellaire High flew to New York for a long, adventurous field trip. Continuously travelling and learning for about a week, the trip was long, but entertaining and delighted the students.

The trip continues a tradition of many years, in which Cardinals head to New York City to learn about new types of art experience a new environment for photography students to take pictures. Students visited the Museum of Modern Art, the Empire State Building, SoHo, Broadway and more.
“My favorite part of the trip was getting to walk around the city and take in the atmosphere and way of life,” said sophomore and photography student, Vega Shah. “Also, I loved people watching!”

The photography students were given an assignment that asked them to focus on taking pictures centered on a theme. The themes ranged from color to people, and everything in between. The students’ portfolios turned out fantastically and truly captured the essence of New York City.
“We took pictures of almost everything,” said Vega. “We were photographing all the time, except when we were in the museums, of course. But whenever we were on the street or even at the hotel and airport, we had our cameras.”
