Parks tend to play a vital role in the mom of a little one’s life. As a mother of twin toddlers, my goal is to find parks with fully (not even slightly partial) enclosed fences and lots of green space so they can run around.

One of my favorites is Huffington Park on Milton in West University. It’s small, sweet and nostalgic (I grew up two blocks from it so I played on it when I was little). A few of my other favorites include St. Martin’s (when it’s open to the public) and Tanglewood Park on Bering.

I spotted a group of moms including Liba Stern, Lisa Zadok and Julia Jacobson at Huffington Park on Thursday. They were seated under the shady oaks, enjoying the beautiful weather, each other’s company and watching children - Oliver Stern, Talia Zadok and Jack Jacobson - soak up the outside air. They all have two year olds and said they meet each Thursday, picking a different place each time.

“Sometimes we meet at the West U rec center,” said Julia. They said they like Huffington because it’s gated, and offers shade under the trees. They met through their children’s preschool, Beth Yeshurun.

What are your favorite local parks and why?
