90 years and counting
Karen Yeager, Kristine Martinez, West University Elementary students Austin Little and Jackie Newman and WUES principal John Threet (pictured, from left) broke ground for a time-capsule burial at West University Elementary's 90th Celebration. School tours were given, and the entire school sang happy birthday to the school with their party hats donned. The time capsule will be opened in 20 years. Each grade put something that symbolizes their grade in the time capsule. Kindergarten placed a DVD of their musical-ocean program along with a bound book with writing from several students. The school choir performed, and many alumni were in attendance. The week leading up to the celebration included activities for the students, including dressing up as a 90 year old, crazy socks day and school spirit day. Fundraising pavers were sold and are still on sale now.
