In December of 2015, two seniors, Kelly Parish and Theresa Hotze, began passing out fliers inviting high school students to the first meeting of the St. Thomas’ Episcopal Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
FCA last existed at St. Thomas’ during the 2012-2013 school year, but this year Kelly and Theresa along with new teacher, Ashley Thalken, decided to revive the program. The first meeting was met with a great turnout, and the amount of students attending continues to grow in numbers with each meeting. The plans for next year include officially registering as an FCA Huddle and continuing to bring in new members with each meeting.
When Theresa was asked what made herself and Kelly decide to revive the program, she said, “Our school is really missing something to bring the students together outside of school. We saw a need for the high school to come together in fellowship and do something fun.”
Meetings are held monthly on Fridays from 6-9 p.m. and all high school students are welcome for food, fun and fellowship.
