All abuzz
Just a note to thank you for your coverage of backyard beekeepers in your April 2016 issue [The Bee’s Knees: Backyard beekeepers have it sweet]. Not only did you shed light on a very important topic, Jennifer Oakley took care to accurately report each beekeeper's story with dedication and an engaging writing style. I have had numerous requests from friends and acquaintances wanting to investigate their own hives! So exciting! Thank you again.

Not a rodeo fan
While I usually enjoy your magazine, I was disturbed by your March 2016 article, Rodeo Horsepitality [The secret show within the livestock show, by Michelle Casas Groogan]. If the Buzz residents profiled really love horses, why would they be involved in an event like the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where each day horses are made to suffer in saddle bronc riding events? These beautiful horses are kept captive, moved from city to city, then forced to repeatedly endure the pain of flank straps and spurs so they buck wildly.... I have to believe God did not create these beautiful creatures so we might inflict pain and suffering on them for a few minutes’ entertainment. I’d rather show my love for horses – and all animals – by staying away from rodeos.

Loves “seeing someone I know”
Jordan [Magaziner Steinfeld], we are just so honored that you would even tell Jill and Brian's [Fredericks] story, so the [Memorial Buzz] cover was beyond expectations [Cherished Moments: Buzz newlyweds’ weekend weddings, February 2016]! My phone was literally "Buzzing" all weekend! Everyone loves The Buzz, and I always love seeing someone I know in it and, it seems, so do all of our friends.
I know Cathy Garcia-Prats well and was SO EXCITED when she was featured on the cover…. Now there is an amazing woman; she is actually opening up a new preschool for kids in need.
Thank you for chronicling such a happy and special time for our family. I hope our paths cross again. I can say, knowing how much thoughtfulness you all put into all of your stories is a wonderful thing for our city, and though I am sure you are bombarded with stories, I will always think of you when I come across more amazing people like Cathy!

Editor’s note: Thank you, Dianne, for your kind words about the February 2016 wedding article. Also, we're impressed you remember when Cathy Garcia-Prats was on the cover of The Bellaire Buzz six years ago, back in 2010. Andy Blitzer wrote that popular article, A Perfect Ten, about Cathy, mom to 10 sons.
Buddies in life and print
What a surprise to see my name and story in such a big way in the recent Buzz – thank you for your nice feature [Back Porch: Neighborly get-togethers, by Andria Frankfort, March 2016]! I thought I would be a “little mention,” so it’s quite different to see me quoted line after line. And even more crazy that you also featured Dee Dee Dochen, my good friend of over 20 years! Neither of us had any idea, so it was quite wild to see our names in print in the same space, sharing our stories. Really brought a smile to our day! Many thanks for your good work.

Happy for local magazine
Thank you for The Buzz (a first class magazine). As 45-year Bellaire residents, my wife Patty and I always enjoy the informative, relative and interesting articles and outstanding photos on current topics relating to our neighborhood. The ads regarding local neighborhood businesses are well done and very helpful. Keep up the excellent work.
