Friends and triathletes
Rummel Creek Elementary third graders Kendall Davis, Taylor Mackel, Addison Sheffield and Avery Kent (pictured, from left) competed in the 2016 Houston Texans Kids Triathlon. Race participants swam 100 yards, then transitioned into bike gear and rode 3 miles, and next transitioned into the half-mile run. The girls prepared for the event with weekly training runs through the neighborhood, led by Kendall’s mom, Kimberly, who is a Beachbody coach and wanted to teach the girls that fitness can be fun. Kendall’s favorite part of the event was biking, while Avery loved running, and Addi and Taylor excelled in swimming. After having a great experience, they signed up for another event and recently competed together at the Typhoon Texas Kids Triathlon in Katy.
