Sweat for a cause
Justin’s TRIumph Splash n’ Dash, held at the Jewish Community Center, was organized by 15- year-old Jared Clark for his Eagle Scout project. Posing after the race for a picture are students from Horn Elementary and Pin Oak, including (from left) Kate Brandt, Peyton Cantrell, Haley Schultz and Morgan Draper. The event not only encouraged children to have active lifestyles but raised $10,000 to help find a cure for GAN, a rare genetic disorder that affects the central and peripheral nervous systems that both Jared’s brother and sister have. A total of 119 participants finished the race. Children ages 7-10 swam 100 meters and then ran a half mile while children ages 11-14 swam 200 meters and then ran 1 mile.
