Bellaire High School Year Begins with Enthusiasm, School Spirit

The 2016-17 school year at Bellaire has begun with a lot of enthusiasm from both new and returning students. After a long summer, everyone is ready to start school again and they are all looking forward to an awesome year ahead.

Every year, students start preparing in summer for all of the activities they will be a part of. The Mighty Cardinal Band started practicing the first day of August, organizing marching routines and practicing new pieces. The football and volleyball teams have been on the field throughout August as well, long before school started, ready to practice early every morning. Our newspaper, the Three Penny Press, along with the yearbook staff went to Texas A&M University for their annual camp to learn new writing, editing and photography techniques.

“I’m excited to be a part of the yearbook staff this year,” sophomore Carolyn Dzul said. “I went to yearbook camp over the summer and it was a lot of fun. We learned a lot and it was a good bonding experience.”

Older students are just excited to get to spend their last couple of years with friends. Many of Bellaire’s senior class leaves Houston every year for college, juniors and seniors want to enjoy each other’s company before moving away. The idea of starting the new year off without anything holding them back, inspires so many students.

“I can’t wait to start a new year with a clean slate,” junior Caroline Lee said. “I know people in all of my classes, so I can guarantee that will make class more fun. This year is going to be awesome!”

The seniors are especially enthusiastic about their last year here at Bellaire and making every moment count.

“This year I’m really looking forward to making memories,” said senior Keilone Guillory. “I want to spend time with all the people I care about.”

All the students at Bellaire are excited to see what the year brings us and to make memories we will cherish forever along the way.
