Live Music in Houston This October
October is one of the best months to be in Houston, in my opinion. It is (finally) starting to cool down, and everyone has finally gotten back into the swing of things after summer. October is a busy month, and concerts are no exception! There is a lot happening in Houston this month, so be sure to check out some of the many concerts happening around the city!
Oct. 2: Flume @ Revention Music Center
I highly recommend this concert. Perk: if you go, you will see me there! I’m looking forward to seeing this EDM-style show at HOB.
Oct. 5: Schoolboy Q @ Revention Music Center
Oct. 6: Cold War Kids @ House of Blues
I’ve seen Cold War Kids live before, and they were great. They’re a great alternative rock band, and even though a lot of young people will be at the concert, they are great for all ages.
Oct. 6: Two Door Cinema Club @ Revention Music Center
One of my favorite bands! Two Door Cinema Club has a fun, happy sound, and they’re sure to put on a great live show.
Oct. 8: Benny Benassi @ Stereo Live
Oct. 11: Jazz Jam @ The Flat
The Flat, a bar on Commonwealth Street, is having Jazz Jams every Tuesday in October! There is no cover, and you can listen to some of the best jazz musicians in the city from 8-11 pm.
Oct. 12: Open Mic @ Firehouse Saloon
I always like to include an open mic in my monthly lists; if you like concerts and want to put one on for yourself and others, here’s a great chance to do that!
Oct. 13: Kellie Pickler @ Arena Theatre
For you country lovers, put on your “red high heels” and go see Kellie Pickler!
Oct. 14: Marc Anthony @ Toyota Center
Oct. 14: Elvis Costello @ Revention Music Center
Oct. 15: Chance the Rapper @ Revention Music Center
Chance always puts on a great show, and I know a lot of people who are excited about this concert. Get your tickets quickly!
Oct. 18: Mat Kearney, Parachute, NEEDTOBREATHE, and Welshly Arms @ Revention Music Center
I’d go for just ONE of these acts, let alone all of them together! Such a great opportunity to see multiple good bands in one night, one sitting.
Oct. 20: Luke Bryan @ Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion
Luke Bryan is a huge Houston favorite, and he always puts on a good performance at Cynthia Woods. Little Big Town is set to be the opening act.
Oct. 24: Lil Dicky @ House of Blues
Oct. 24: Troye Sivan @ Revention Music Center
Hopefully he plays my favorite song, “Youth”!
Oct. 26: Andy Grammer and Gavin DeGraw @ Revention Music Center
I can’t imagine two more relaxing musicians to listen to. I’m buying my tickets for this as I type.
Oct. 26: Elle King @ House of Blues
This up-and-coming star can REALLY sing, so her concert should be great!
Oct. 29: The Pretenders and Stevie Nicks @ Toyota Center
I’ve seen The Pretenders and Stevie Nicks live before, and all I can say is--they are both great! You’ll want to sing and dance along, even if you aren’t familiar with classic rock.
Oct. 29-30: Something Wicked
Something Wicked is a music festival taking place at Sam Houston Race Park. Dress up in your Halloween costume and listen to some electronic music and DJs (including Diplo, Excision, and Carnage) at this night festival.
