A walk in the park

Alex Ward and Craig Thomas are celebrating their recent engagement. The couple met while taking the same shuttle to work in the morning. They struck up a conversation and realized they had a lot in common. Both worked at MD Anderson labs as research assistants, lived at the same apartment complex and were planning to apply to medical school. They became friends and started dating. Alex attends McGovern Medical School, and he is at UTMB in Galveston. Fast forward a few years and many trips up and down the Gulf Freeway, and they are now third-year medical students. Craig is able to do many of his clinical rotations in Houston this year and live closer to Alex. Recently, Alex spent a Saturday on call at the hospital. That evening, Craig asked her to go on a walk around Buffalo Bayou, which they sometimes do with Alex’s dog, Griffin. He proposed on a bridge overlooking Hermann Park and the Medical Center.
