St. Pius X High School students in a club called Best Buddies attended the Angel Falls Luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016. This luncheon was a major fundraiser for Autism Rescue Angels.
They were at luncheon to volunteer with the setup, greeted the guests who arrived and guided them to the check-in area.
Autism Rescue Angels hosted their annual fall luncheon at the Houston Racquet Club. The purpose of this luncheon was to share how they help to provide financial assistance and support to local Houston area families who have a loved one with autism. The Founder and President of the Autism Rescue Angels, Lisa Graham-Garza, is the mother of freshman Ryan Garza who is also a member of the Best Buddies club at St. Pius X High School.
The SPX students who attended were senior Sarah McMillan, who is the president of the club, junior Alyssa Cinadr, senior Walker Davis, junior Aubrey Murdock, sophomore Nina Martinez and freshman Ryan Garza.
Sarah McMillan said, “Seeing the kids enjoy themselves at such a special event brought me great joy, and it amazed me how these kids can be thankful for things that seem to little to me.”
The primary mission of Best Buddies is to establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
