Park perk up
Frostwood Elementary School fourth-grade students Peter Yang, Matthew Li and Jeffery Liu (pictured, from left) volunteered to clean up Japhet Creek Park. They pulled weeds, removed boulders and rocks, and cleaned out trash to make a butterfly bed. They planted passion-fruit seeds, which will grow to be plants that attract butterflies. They worked hard, but they also had a fun time checking out caterpillars in an existing butterfly bed. Working together with a few other long-term park volunteers, they learned how important volunteer work is in our community. Some people have consistently volunteered there for 10 years.
