Happy Friday! Here are some events to look forward to this weekend.
Mayor’s Holiday Celebration
Ring in the holiday season with the annual Mayor’s Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting, downtown starting at 6 p.m. tonight. The event includes music, Santa, fireworks, a tall holiday tree, and more.
Dickens on the Strand in Galveston
The annual holiday street festival, based on 19th-century Victorian London, includes parades, entertainment, carolers, musicians, bagpipgers, jugglers, costumed vendors, holiday food and drink, crafts and more. The event takes place Fri.-Sun. in Galveston.
Southside Place Winter Wonderland Carnival
Southside Place will turn into a winter wonderland on Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. There will be food, carnival games, inflatables, a rock climbing wall, snow and more. All proceeds go toward improving Fire Truck Park.
DesignCraft Holiday Market
AIGA Houston presents its 7th Annual Holiday Market on Saturday morning, featuring the work of local artists and crafts. There will be demonstrations by local artisans, live music, local food trucks and opportunities to knock out your holiday gift shopping.
Tamale Festival Houston
If you’re a fan of tamales, you won’t want to miss Tamale Festival Houston on Saturday, starting at 12 p.m. at the Navigation Esplanade. There will be live entertainment, a tamale eating contest and more.
