More than 300 current and alumni families, faculty and friends of St. Catherine’s Montessori gathered at Hotel Zaza to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The evening honored the school’s cofounders, Sister Edna Ann Hebert and the late Sister Shirley Owens. The school’s golden anniversary was symbolized by bars of golden beads, a foundational Montessori material for teaching math concepts. Guests enjoyed bidding on auction items, a Big Board of classroom art projects, a Wine Pull, a silent auction and music from the David Caceres Band. A Paddles Up Auction for the Sister Edna Ann Hebert Library was a hit, as guests honored the co-founder known for her ability to teach children to read. Table gifts were handmade and connected to the school: neroli soap made by students and marmalade made by parents from citrus harvested from the school orchard. Pictured are (seated, from left) Lorenzo Cohen, Alison Jefferies, Jamie Mann, Shannon Mann, Cathy Crath, (standing, from left) Ana Trevino-Godfrey, Joe and Tricia Crane, and Keri and Mark Dykes.
