Community Celebrates Grand Opening of Evelyn's Park
An excited crowd gathered to celebrate the Grand Opening of Evelyn’s Park on Sat., April 22 for its Picnic in the Park event. Families laid out picnic blankets on the expansive lawn, while kids roamed around venturing to all corners of the park - sliding down the giant slide, Hula-hooping, climbing the hill and participating in the many activities offered on opening day.
Visitors took full advantage of the new park’s amenities and there were many exciting treats in store throughout the day. The Ivy & James café, which will open May 1, packed box lunches. Sculptor Bridgette Mongeon was on site displaying the work in progress for her Alice in Wonderland sculpture that will soon be the monument of the park. Kids also had the chance to pose for a photo opp with costumed characters Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter.
Local bands played on the stage, kids danced and families joined in the conga line. The big blow-out event came when bubbles were passed out and the park turned into an all-out bubble-blowing extravaganza.
