Friends and heavy hitters

Friends and Frostwood Elementary fourth graders Tommy Vandor and Austin Medlenka (pictured) have waited patiently for the coveted first out-of-the-park home run. After years of playing baseball together in the Medlenkas’ front yard, their dreams finally came true when they accomplished their goal on the same night. Tommy hit one over the fence for the SBMSA Hooks, and Austin did the same for the SBMSA Longhorns. Not only did their shining moments happen at the same time, but on baseball fields right next to each other. The coincidences didn’t stop there. Both boys hit their home runs during their second time up to bat, and both hit the ball out over left field for two-run homers.
