AVDA (Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse), a nonprofit organization that helps victims of abuse and their families, will host its 12th annual gala on Oct. 5 at Crystal Ballroom (909 Texas Ave.). Pictured are AVDA supporters Ginni and Richard Mithoff and John Eddie Williams Jr. (from left). Richard was the third recipient of AVDA’s Joseph D. Jamail Award for Justice for his legal representation of those who have been mistreated. Williams received the award the year before. This year’s co-chairs are Esther and Doug Freedman and Candace and Brian Thomas.  Honorees are Bobbie Nau (recipient of AVDA’s Heart of Houston Award) and Ronald D. Krist (recipient of Joseph D.
