Mary and Ken Holmgren participated in the flag ceremony during the National Anthem during Game 3 of the World Series on Friday. 

Mary and Ken Holmgren were “honored and excited” to help hold the giant American flag during the National Anthem during Game 3 of the World Series on Friday. They stood in the upper right corner near the Astros bullpen to help hold up the flag.

“Getting to participate in the flag ceremony was such an honor.” Mary says, “Being on the field before the game and seeing and hearing the crowd from that viewpoint was so exciting.”

The Holmgrens are first-time season ticket holders this year. Mary thought she would probably attend 15-20 games or so, but as the season began and the Astros were doing so well, they were having so much fun and frequently attended games. Mary ended up attending 59 games and Ken attended a few more with his son. They have enjoyed rooting for the Astros and exploring downtown and restaurants near the stadium before the games.

Mary and Ken Holmgren are first-time season ticket holders and have attending 50+ games this season.

This morning, Mary says she’s “pretty exhausted” as they have been at Minute Maid four long nights in a row, including the rehearsal on Thursday night, but they might go to Minute Maid again tomorrow night to watch the game.

“It’s been a great year for the Astros and we love our team.” Mary says. “They deserve to win it all. And it would be wonderful for Houston after all we have gone through this year.”
