When twin brothers from The Kinkaid School, Socs and Dz Zavitsanos, were in Greece, they decided to volunteer at a Syrian refugee camp. They were inspired to capture interviews of two brothers on their iPhones and created an award-winning film, Two of Five Million. They won first prize in the Teens Indie All American Film Festival in NYC, a large and prestigious student film fest with over 2,900 applicants. They continue to stay in touch with these young men from the documentary, and they have set up a GoFundMe for the boys as well. They have even given them prize money from film festivals they’ve won – the film has made it into 17 festivals so far. They also won at the Heartland Film Festival in Indianapolis, both the high school documentary division and the overall documentary as well – competing against adults!
